The African Consumers Organization strengthens its commitment alongside WHO, FAO, and the African Union for healthy diets in Africa
The African Consumers Organization (ACO) recently reiterated its commitment to promoting healthy diets across the continent by actively participating in the web event “Deep dive on WHO recommended policies to promote healthy diets,” held in partnership with the African Union, UNICEF, WHO, FAO, and subregional institutions.
ACO’s Executive Director, Dr. Emmanuel SOGADJI, and Mr. Maguette Fall represented the organization at this strategic gathering. During the sessions, Mr. Maguette Fall gave a noteworthy presentation showcasing the practical engagement and expertise of consumer organizations in raising awareness and mobilizing sector stakeholders around the right of every African to healthy, nutritious food.
OAC emphasized the necessity of placing consumers and their organizations at the heart of public policy development on diets and nutrition. Their involvement is essential to ensure the effectiveness of initiatives aimed at guaranteeing real, equitable access to high-quality food for all.
Finally, OAC calls for stronger collective action and coordinated efforts with all partner institutions to build a future in Africa where the rights of consumers to healthy diets are fully respected and protected. This mobilization is vital to answer the continent’s nutrition challenges and secure the health and well-being of future generations. The activity took place on October 14th, 2025, bringing together many key stakeholders committed to promoting healthy diets and defending consumer rights in Africa.
