Urbanization and housing

Africa is the least urbanized continent on the planet; however, African cities are experiencing rapid expansion. According to the UN, Africa will overtake Asia as the world's fastest urbanizing region by 2025 (UN 2014). In the next 20 years, the continent's total population will exceed the combined population of Europe and the Americas. Access to basic services for African consumer citizens such as water, electricity, sanitation, public transport, and housing will form the basis of inclusive growth in our rapidly urbanizing cities. The AUC intends to make its contribution to improve access to these essential services for African consumers.
