What we Do?

Since its creation, UAC has invested in:

  Advocacy for the recognition of the AUC, as a continental non-governmental non-profit organization which federates national consumer organizations in Africa with African governments, regional and international organizations Advocacy

 Strengthening of networking between consumer associations in Africa by networking and sharing experiences and knowledge on issues related to consumer protection

 Strengthening the capacities of consumer associations to enable them to better understand the issues and challenges of consumer protection and to promote the development and implementation of international, regional and national legal instruments on consumer protection. To this end, the AUC took an active part in the preparation of the draft Directives on Consumer Protection in Central Africa and the draft Regional Regulations on Competition Policy in Central Africa. AUC was closely associated by the United Nations Conference for Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the Economic and Monetary Commission of Central African States (CEMAC) for the popularization of these regional texts in the countries of the Central Africa subregion.

 Membership as a full member of the Alliance for Food Sovereignty (AFSA)

 Recruitment of new members bringing the number to 31 consumer organizations from 26 African countries.

 Designing and seeking funding for several capacity-building projects for consumer organizations

 The establishment of working groups on key topics such as, the continental free trade area, nutrition, liberalization of African air transport
